Our Clinical Master Herbalist program is designed to cover every aspect of plant medicine imaginable! In addition to learning more about herbalism, aromatherapy and nutrition, this course covers botany and plant identification, phytochemistry, ethnobotany, and many more aspects of botanical care. Our students enter the field of herbalism fully equipped with the training and experience necessary for success. By combining the art and science of natural medicine, our Clinical Master Herbalists learn how to observe, distinguish and prevent susceptibilities and patterns of disease using the holistic model of care. This whole person, integrative approach is essential to effective herbal medicine.
The course also include information on related areas of study that directly impact our health and the effectiveness and sustainability of botanical medicine, including environmental health, food history, philosophies of natural health, microbial patterns and human development. This program is ideal for an individual that seeks to be a Clinical Master Herbalist, for licensed medical professionals that are seeking to include integrative herbalism into their existing careers and for individuals that aspire to become recognized professionals in the field of herbalism. To fully cover the extent of this large field, it exclusively covers herbalism and those areas that are directly related to botanical medicine. An emphasis is placed on relevant, current health concerns and up to date scientific evidence, placing our herbalists at the cutting edge of the field!
The program includes a total of 68 units, which provide 1400 hours of study and is typically completed in 3-4 years.
This course is available in both our Traditional Textbooks format or the new Virtual Vintage Remedies format. Both formats include access to the student portal for online test taking, grading, updates and additional study. The Virtual Vintage Remedies option also includes access to the course section where the student text, projects and other materials are available. The Traditional Textbooks option includes the student textbooks and guidebook. For both study options, four additional textbooks will be required which are not provided or sold through our office. The list of required reading is provided with the student materials and is not necessary until the student has progressed 12-18 months into the program. They can be found new for $200-$300, they can be checked out from some local libraries, or they can be found used for $100-$200.
